There are many ways a designer can achieve the perception of an expanded gamut in the printing process.
At Wallace Carlson Printing, a metro Minneapolis high quality printing company, we offer true expanded gamut hexachrome printing.
However, we now offer a straightforward way for designers to achieve the effects of expanded gamut using various ink options.
Hexachrome emulation
Toyo, our ink supplier, makes a specialty four-color ink product called KALEIDO which expands the normal CMYK color gamut to rival six-color hexachrome printing — still using just four inks.
With KALEIDO, print designers have yet another option for attracting more attention to their color piece.
KALEIDO is ideal for brochures, posters, catalogs, and point of purchase items where your printed piece is competing for attention.
Next level hexachrome
In 2017, Toyo released a brand new product called Toyo Kaleido Plus 2.0. This version takes Kaleido color to the next level with a six-color Kaleido ink set.
Kaleido Plus 2.0 adds orange and green inks to CMYK. By doing this, we can achieve color representation of approximately 120 percent compared to the original Kaleido process, according to Toyo.
What does this mean for print designers?
Expanding the Kaleido ink set to six-colors achieves “vivid color expression beyond reality” as typified by viewing graphics on PCs, tablets and smartphones.
Best of all, Wallace Carlson Printing is the ONLY printer in the Midwest using this process!
We’re so excited about this next iteration of eye popping color at Wallace Carlson Printing.
This is color printing previously unobtainable on an offset press.
If your next project needs that over-the-top saturation and color, consider using WCP and Kaleido Plus 2.0 inks for amazing results.
We’d love to show you samples of our expanded gamut print. Let’s see if one of your upcoming projects might be a good candidate for this innovative, eye catching process.
